Bottoms and Foils

When Dunes started Waterline Systems, sailors on the whole had not considered the effect that overall fairness of the hull, keel and rudder has on performance.

We seem to have changed that!

Over the years, we've sailed a lot of boats before and after fairing and we've had many, many sailmaker customers (that should tell you something). Anecdotally, we pretty much agree that a good fairing job gives roughly the same performance gain as a new suit of sails.

Look at it this way: If you have an un-fair boat and buy all new sails, your potential speed is about equivalent to a faired boat using their Beer-Can beater sails.

The sailmakers understand this. All the tuning guides start off with some variation of "get your bottom and foils faired". They understand that thier customers will not get the most out of thier new sails if they put them on an un-fair boat.

The links to your right explain our fairing services in some detail. If you just want to cut to the chase, the FAQ and price sheets will get you most of what you need to know!
