The J/22 Class is among the largest and fastest growing one-design keelboats in the country. That's amazing for a 20 some odd year-old design.

There are a lot of reasons:

Many knowlegeable people think that the J/22 is the nicest sailing boat that Rod Johnstone ever designed. In a long line of really nice sailing boats, that's saying something!

The boat is extremely flexible and allows a wide range of sailors to compete at a high level. You can sail with 3 big guys, or 4 smaller people. The boat doesn't require a lot of muscle-power but does reward brain power, skill and technique. The age range of competitive teams range from teenagers to octogenarians. As the platform for the Rolex Womens International Keelboat Championship, it is very popular with women.

The boat is extremely durable, and like all USWatercraft boats it is made for easy maintenance. The only wood on deck is the tiller and the interior is 100% hosable.

The combination of durablitiy, ease of maintenance and a wide range of crew makes the J/22 the first choice of sailing centers, yacht clubs and university fleets.

There are active fleets around the country and unlike many classes, J/22s travel and get great turnouts. The racing is great, but onshore the class is more laid-back than most. Everyone knows that they're there to have fun. And have fun they do!

The current USWatercraft J/22s are the fastest ever made. It's the weapon of choice for world champions and club racers alike. Sold factory direct, the J/22 is also an exceptional value!
